About Us
| Richard Blankenship founded
Cornerstone Psychotherapy & Training in the
spring of 2006 in order to offer a new forum
for training groups and workshops, as well as
to be a place for providing help to the community
through a new staff of psychotherapists with
a variety of specialties and backgrounds. Our
name has meanings for us on many different levels.
First of all, we see the mental/spiritual/physical
well being of families, couples, and individuals
as being the basis for healthy community. We
see the work that we do as reinforcing these
"cornerstones" of life, and helping people learn
how to build on top of these stones, constructing
healthy lives. We chose the stone lion as our
symbol because it is what we see as the heart
of the cornerstone. In the Judeo-Christian tradition,
the lion is an embodiment of "Messiah", of strength
and the ultimate power of redemption. We at
Cornerstone believe in repair and recovery;
this belief is reinforced by the faith we hold
as individuals, but ultimately it is an ideal
that we hope all in our profession, regardless
of faith, can claim. That in the end, through
struggles and hardships, there can be found
hope and healing, that the problems and shortcomings
of today do not have to be the same tomorrow.
And it is our desire that, wherever you may
be coming from, you will be able to find this
hope and encouragement with us. |
